The Power of Pride: a simple but powerful message.

What do we mean by "The Power of Pride?" Each and every one of us as Rainbow Card members can take pride in the philanthropic success of our program. Every time we take our Rainbow Cards from our wallet, we demonstrate our pride and we help to support groups dedicated to enriching the lives of others in our community. While less then 2% of all philanthropic dollars in the U.S. are targeted specifically to lesbian and gay causes, the Rainbow Endowment has emerged as a significant source of funding nationwide.

To date, we have contributed nearly $2.0 million to support the work of those who provide research, services and timely information to people living with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other health issues. We have helped strengthen the advocacy work of those who fight relentlessly for our legal rights, equality in the workplace and recognition as families. We have funded gay and lesbian cultural arts and have contributed to improving services for our youth as well as the senior members of our community.

I personally would like to thank each and every one of you, the loyal and active Rainbow Card members. Your support over the past decade has made my dream of funding causes relevant to our community a reality. I would also like to extend a special thanks to my friend Annie Liebovitz for her continued support and for the incredibly powerful photographic images that we use in conjunction with this philanthropic work.
